Half leather with worn marbled boards. Gilt lettering and bands on spine. Corners and edges of boards are well worn and scuffed. Spine is worn with some loss at spine ends. Binding is intact with just the occasional page slightly loose. Binding contemporary to publication. "BASS CANTORIS" has been hand written on the front cover in black ink. Plate printed music is clean and legible with very occasional hand written annotation, paper is slightly darkened and foxed.
Previous owners bookplate (F.(?) A. Gardner) on the inside front cover has been crossed out in ink with gift note inscription on facing end-paper "Presented to St. Michael's College, Tenbury by Aurthur H D Prendergast (Hon: Fellow) November 1901". Dedication page to Queen Victoria at front has stamped name " Harward Turner". Index at rear.
