Grand William IV Rosewood Tilt top Dining Table.

A fantastic restored Rosewood large tilt top table.

We bring to you one of the most marvellous example of a restored Regency William IV period Tilt top round table of substantial size in Rosewood which was made around C1830. This table has been fully restored so is in stunning condition with a lovely highly glazed French polished finish and deep rich colour.

This very rare table features its stunning wild grain Rosewood top above its striking triangular descending pillar going to its substantial and beautifully crafted triform base which stands on turned and fluted legs of which conceal castors. This beautifully ornate table is embellished with quarter bobbins all around the tables large top which carries on throughout the tables triform base. Unusually and as a sign of quality this tilt top table has no movement or play in the mechanism as the table is being normally used, the top is flat with no bowing or twisting and its brass snap latch operates with little effort and a satisfying click. There are some small splits in the top which have been repaired and reinforced however, they do still slightly show in the table tops original surface (this is very minor but visible under close inspection). The table has its original polish throughout which has been revived and brought back to glorious condition via the skilfull technique of amalgamation and French polishing up.

This table can comfortably accommodate 6 chairs and be used as a formal dining room or even a centre or breakfast table. Already not taking up too much room because of this shape, the top tilts upright for storage with its original quality brass table screws.

This item is in outstanding restored condition as shown by the photographs however being an antique item of this age there are blemishes and scuffs here and there which we feel adds to its originality and heritage.
