Up for sale, a 1973 Fender Jazz Bass in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and strap. 100% original save for a rewound neck pickup, this Jazz Bass' tonewood complement includes an ash body, a (particularly rare) heavily figured flame maple neck, and a dark, tight-grained rosewood fretboard.

Weighing 9lbs and extremely well-balanced on a strap, this Jazz Bass has a natural acoustic voice that highlights the midrange complexity of ash as a tonewood, with plenty of sweet sustain and sonic breadth. The original pair of gray bobbin pickups feature enamel coated wire, Alnico V magnets, and are shellac-potted, offering the distinctive growl, midrange burp and sweetness inherent in the Jazz Bass sound. This Jazz Bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation.

The gloss Sunburst finish is very bold, exhibiting light vertical finish checking, with one very small spot of faint buckle wear between the neck plate and belly contour edge. Cosmetic wear is otherwise limited to various small nicks, largely relegated to the body edges and to a lesser extent on the back. The highly unusual and highly figured flame maple neck retains its extremely clean and smooth gloss, with just a few shallow marks on the profile length.

The original black tolex hardshell case is included and equally as clean as the bass, with black leather ends, functional latches, the stock handle and raised Fender logo on the lid. The original chrome-plated "ashtray" bridge cover is included, along with the original strap.
