Miniature sized, only 4 by 2 7/8” in size, in convex beige celluloid resin hard cover, with cross and floral decoration; Inside front cover has a mother of pearl crucifix with metal figure of Jesus and white damask fabric background facing Prayer Before the Crucifix in German, one tissue protected engraving of Christ in Gethsemane as frontispiece, and one other full page drawing, 381 pages with index in the back, one white silk marker ribbon, gilt edged page block, completely in the German language in high Gothic print.
It is a lovely antique Catholic Prayer Book, found in its original card box where it was probably kept for decades, see photo #8.
We are selling it AS-IS because the front and back hinges are loose due to deterioration of the silk fabric which externally holds the covers to the spine. The interior text pages are fresh, clean and unmarked, note two press marks to the prayer, inside front cover,where the metal corpus figure touches the print, when the book is closed, see photo # 2, the original cardboard holding box is a bit tattered.
It is a collectible and unusual antique prayer book, lower priced because of the as-is condition of the covers noted above.
