This bridle is made of very dark brown / black leather.
It is lined in red woollen felt with a "pinked" or zig-zag edge, but much of this fabric has been lost.
The browband is covered in black leather.

The browband has a black leather rosette with a central silver coloured stud on each end.
The rosettes are threaded onto a flap with a stud closure.
The headstall has keepers which hold the T-bars of a watering bit.
There is a separate headpiece which holds the curb bit
Both bits have a set of black reins.
It is in very good condition for its age, there is a small amount of surface crackling in places, (please see images)

The steel curb bit has curved cheeks, each would have carried a badge or boss but these have been removed.
The mouthpiece of the bit has a low port and is stamped "Haymarket".
The mouthpiece measures 5 inches (12.5cm).

The jointed snaffle bit has T-bars which thread through the square loops of the headstall. One bar is stamped "Sowter & Co", the other is stamped "Haymarket"
