VCR cycles is delighted to bring to the market this lovely condition large sized 1997 Fausto Coppi Aluminium Galaxy Team Polti gents road bike.
Not to be confused with the generic Taiwan built Coppi frames this frame was hand built in Italy by F.Ili Masciaghi (Masciaghi Brothers) who were the owner of the brand Fausto Coppi in early 1990s and they put in charge Giovanni Pelizzoli for the design and manufacturing of their top racing frames for Team Polti. The pro team included Gianni Bugno, winner of " Flanders" Mauro Giannetti, Mirko Celestino, Richard Virenque, Davide Rebellin and Ivan Gotti, winner of Giro d'Italia.
Made using Columbus Altec Aluminium tubing with formed stiffening gussets between the joints, it’s light, strong and very stiff.
As you can see from the photos, this bike has had very little use.
The frame is free from any dents or damage and the paint is pretty much perfect except for one or two tiny chips that have been touched in albeit with not a very good matching paint. A small tin of Humbrol enamel paint in a better match yellow will work wonders.
It’s fitted with a full Shimano Tiagra 4400 18 speed groupset to include:
9 x 2 Flightdeck STi levers.
Tiagra 4400 front & rear mechs.
Tiagra double chainset with 52/39 rings and 175mm arms.
Tiagra brake calipers.
Tiagra 9 speed cassette with 12-26t.
Tiagra Bottom bracket.
The wheels consist of Sora hubs laced 32/32 with stainless double butted spokes into Mavic MA3 black rims and these are shod with brand new Vittoria Zaffiro Pro 23c tyres.
The cockpit consists of ITM Big One 120mm reach stem, ITM Super Italia Pro-2 bars wrapped in new perforated black bar tape to match the very nice condition Selle Italia Trimatic 2 leather top saddle which is sitting on an promax carbon seatpost.
An Elite bottle cage is fitted to complete this stunning hand built pro rider standard Italian classic road bike.
The bike has been serviced, cleaned and safety checked and rides like a dream.!
The frame measures 59cm from the centre of the BB to the top of the seat tube.
It’s 56cm from the centre of the seat tube to the centre of the headtube.
A stunning bike in stunning condition that’s value will only ever go up!
