PAPER FAN:

Deep carved sticks with Finely Hand painted with Chinese Court Figures, Applied hand painted faces with silk robes. (What first appears to be a painting on the paper leaf is actually a mixed media composition. The faces of all the human figures and the facial details have been painted. Additionally, every outfit is comprised of tiny pieces of a textile adhered directly to the surface, which are also painted for futher detailing. Two faces seems to be missing.

The fan needs restoration but the scenic artwork is complete and the colors are vivid and beautiful. (I have many more photos, do not hesitate to ask)

BOX:

The box is made of wood and lacquer with metal hinges and latch, and is lined with blue fabric. Inside the lid is hand painted decoration.

There is a mark/damage on the cover which seems to be more than 100 years old.

This item was in the collection of my Grand-mother in law who recently passed at 106 years old.
