Booklet of 12 stamps - Old toys - Green Letter (Jouets anciens)

This notebook was produced in collaboration with the toy museum of Poissy (78) and Moirans-en-Montagne (39). The 12 objects appearing in this notebook illustrate children's toys in vogue at the beginning of the 20th and during the 19th centuries. From the 16th century and 17th century in art (Brueghel, Chardin, etc.), on fashion plates in the 19th century (those where pretty ladies pose with their well-dressed and well-dressed offspring), then chromolithographs (these little advertising cards in bright colors distributed to customers of department stores until the Great War) and photo cards from the late 19th and early 20th centuries (the child posing proudly on his wooden or mechanical horse), the toy is a witness to time. Before excessive industrialization, the era of plastic and electronics, the toy of the time was artisanal, made of wood (wood turners from the Jura in particular), iron, porcelain or fabric. Old toys today constitute so many obsolete objects, full of charm, sought after by passionate and nostalgic collectors. Therefore, being interested in old toys is like taking a journey through time and the history of societies. But it is also the opportunity to keep our childish soul.
