Formation:  Kaoguo Formation
Location:  Xixia Basin, Henan Province, China
Size: Egg is about 6 inches across!

This is a GUARANTEED REAL fossilized dinosaur egg from a Hadrosaur dinosaur. Most ''duck-billed'' dinosaurs laid their eggs in nests of a dozen or more eggs. Usually, hatching and scavenging damaged the nests, obliterating any trace of the eggs that remained. Occasionally, a few eggs survived predators and the elements, and eventually became fossils. Because of their delicate nature, intact eggs are very rare in the fossil record. Dinosaur eggs that retain their original shape and eggshell are some of the most collectible fossils in the world.

This is a top quality example of a REAL hadrosaur egg from the Cretaceous of China. This Dendroolithus egg was acquired over two decades ago at the Tucson Fossil Show and then cleaned with an air-abrasive machine under a microscope here in the US to expose the fine detail of the eggshell (see photos). The impressive egg is quite large and is very inflated and 3-D. The natural eggshell is very colorful, wonderfully preserved, and covers 99% of the surface of the egg - WOW! The distinct egg has a near-perfect "egg" shape and displays beautifully on its original pedestal of rock matrix - no compositing! This is an extremely detailed and displayable TEXTBOOK Hadrosaur dinosaur egg - a REAL specimen for your collection, to display in your home or office, or for a unique gift for the person who has everything.
