In the 1970's, Raikes was asked to produce dolls. As a result, the first version of the Raikes Bears, which had a carved wooden face and cloth bodies filled with sawdust, hit the market. From that point on, the Raikes Bears grew in popularity. Each one is truly a work of art and each one is completely unique.
Being a Navy Veteran, this one is close to my heart...Little "Christopher" is ready to ship out!! He's wearing a Navy shirt with the Raikes Bears name embroidered on the sleeve, and has a cap to match. This jointed bear has a wooden face and the bottom of his feet are wooden as well. The original tag (item #5455) is attached to this Limited Edition. Individually numbered, this was limited to 15,000 and is individually signed and numbered. My favorite part? The look on his face - he looks scared to death!! His foot is engraved on the bottom #4,431 of 15,000 and has Robert Raikes' signature as well.
