This is in very good condition.  The scuff you can see in the primary picture is hardly visible on the actual item unles held sideways in a bright light.  There is a little extra paint on the inside top.  

I think a large taper would fit into the top of this but I would not suggest letting wax flow onto the piece.  The inside is raw wood vs polished so I am not sure use as a bud vase is appropriate.  Nevertheless this is a beautiful piece even if not used as a vase or candle holder.
