Anna Pavlova was the greatest Russian ballerina of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Classically trained in St. Petersberg's world class ballet school, she became the world's most popular dancer and for decades was the most famous and photographed woman in the world. Per Dame Margot Fonteyn in her Introduction to her 1984 book PAVLOVA: PORTRAIT OF A Dancer, Pavlova's grace and poise was never equaled by any other ballerina, even those who had greater technical gifts. This celebration on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of her birth was the product of Pendleton, Indiana's "boy Genius" George Daughterty, who founded his own summer festival orchestra in Indiana at age 20 before touring it widely with leading classical musicians and the country's best ballet dancers. The Pavlova tribute was a huge success, playing regionally at also at Lincoln Center. These items are from the Pasadena production which happened thanks to Beatrice Collonette.

*I acquired these items at the estate sale of Pasadena artist Rosemary Plane, who trained for years with iconic ballet dancer and teacher Beatrice Collonette.
*Beatrice (1899-2001) was born in Gurnsey in the Channel Islands, but came of age in the U.S. Her family had the means to send her to London to train with Pavlova at her home Ivy House, and Pavolova came to view her as a supremely talented "daughter." Beatrice appeared in 2 Broadway musicals - LADY BILLY (1920-21) and JACK AND JILL (1923). She married a journalist and they moved to Pasadena, where she founded the Collonette School of Dancing in 1926. The couple had a daughter, Joan, and Beatrice modeled in national print campaigns for a time. She also filled in for a friend who taught at the San Francisco Ballet when he was traveling. Her own dance troupe, which performed mostly at the Pasadena Playhouse, also toured in California and nationally.  Among her celebrity students was Marilyn Monroe, She was a major figure in American ballet and devoted to keeping Pavlov'as flame burning bright.

It's super rare, with no other sets on eBay. It was likely created in a small number and went to Beatrice's students and close pals.

The Buy-It-Now price of $40.00  includes shipping bubble-wrapped in a cardboard box via media mail, which takes around 7 days with tracking, less in SoCal.
