The U.S. Postal Service issued this sheet of Judy Garland self-adhesive 39¢ stamps - the 12th issuance in the Legends of Hollywood series - at Carnegie Hall in New York, NY on June 10, 2006. The stamp portrait is by artist Tim O'Brien from Brooklyn, NY, based on a publicity photo for A Star Is Born, the 1954 film for which Garland received an Academy Award nomination for best actress. A reproduction of Garland's signature appears at the bottom of the stamp.

Judy Garland (1922-1969) is widely acclaimed as one of the greatest entertainers of the twentieth century. A born performer who made her professional debut at the age of two, she delighted audiences and colleagues alike with her talent and versatility. In 1940, she won a special Academy Award "for her outstanding performance as a screen juvenile" during the previous year when she made Babes in Arms; and The Wizard of Oz "Over the Rainbow" is one of the many classic songs she introduced to her audience.
