Vintage Marcel Breuer for Kovona B12 Bauhaus Console Side Table

This console table, model B12, was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928. It features two wooden ledges in glossy black and cobalt blue supported by a frame of continuous tubular steel. The concept for Breuer's tubular design was to make furniture that would not only fit modern architecture, but have functionality as well. This table is a prime example of this approach.

Origin: produced by Kovona in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s / 1940s.

Condition: in very good vintage shape for its age. The wooden shelves are in good vintage condition, having received a small refurbishment in the shape of a translucent, protective lacquer applied over the original wood so as to conserve the thin layer of original paint, with some waves forming on the top layer of the stratified wood on the black lower shelf as well as some small dents to the surface the blue shelf. Overall the tubular frame is in excellent condition with minimal marks and no signs of rust, with one 3-cm long blemish visible around the middle part of the area where the frame holds the blue shelf. The entire structure is stable.
