Once the wax taper is lit, hold at no more than a 45 degree angle, this will help lessen the subtle blackening effect that can occur from the melting action of the wax, the more level you hold the lit wax stick then the less blackening effect. This effect is quite normal & can not be avoided, it will be more noticable on the lighter wax colours. This effect in no way lessens the finished seal, but can result in a slightly mottled effect & is quite normal & creates a rather nice mottled effect.
