Disneyland Dreams Traditions and Transitions 1993 Box Set LTD ED Slipcover Folio

Saturday's Toys Presents Treasures from Disney Historian Paul F. Anderson

We are pleased to represent a unique selection of items from the personal collection of Paul F. Anderson, noted Disney author, researcher, and historian.  Paul is also founder of the Disney History Institute.

This listing includes:  a hard to find special edition publication released exclusively for the 1993 Official Disneyana Convention in Anaheim, California (the first "west coast" Official Disneyana convention), featuring their newest publication from Disney's Kingdom Editions: Disneyland - Dreams, Traditions and Transitions

Written by legendary Disney publicist Leonard Shannon (hired in 1954) and by the 1990's was also serving as a writer for The Disney Channel, The Disney News and other company publications

176 pages; hardcover; with dust jacket as secured within an elegant fabric covered slipcover..

Features an historic timeline of Disneyland attractions and events with hundreds of historic black & white and color photos.  Designed by Shelley Higuera for Disney's Kingdom Editions.  Printed in the USA.  The special edition features the Disneyana Convention logo for 1993... in addition to a collectible reproduction of Roy O. Disney's own Disneyland admission ticket #1 from July 18, 1955 (in reality, there were no such tickets sold on Sunday, July 17... as the event known as Disneyland's "opening day" admission ticket (aka International Press Preview and Dedication) was by invitation only).

In addition, this folio includes a high quality set of lithographic prints featuring 36 images as captured throughout throughout Disneyland.  Each panel features nine photographs on four 11" x 11" presentations (with image of 9 photos having an inside measurement of 6.25" x 6.25".  In addition, each high quality print features a separate vellum overlay that describes the "Land" and "Location" where each image could be found throughout the park (due to photo limits on eBay; only one example of the vellum overlay is shown with our listing photos).  In reality, these prints are suitable for framing and represent one of the most often overlooked treasures as offered at the 1993 Official Disneyana Convention.

Original retail price:  $125.00

Slipcover still maintains the shrinkwrap for the offering, with Disneyland price tag.  Opened only to photograph the contents within and the shrinkwrap has effectively protected the cloth surface of the slipcover.  This reveals one of the drawbacks to understanding the full scope of the presentation as retailers have been hesitant to open the package in order to preserve the "mint" condition; while sacrificing a clear understanding of the exceptional works of art within the packaging.  Full disclosure now provides the insight that shoppers may have overlooked until now.

Includes Certificate of Authenticity on behalf of The Paul F. Anderson Collection

PAUL F. ANDERSON BIOGRAPHY:

Paul F. Anderson has spent well over half of his life researching, writing, and delving into the creative legacy of Walt Disney. He began this interest in the mid-Seventies when his father gifted him with a copy of Christopher Finch’s Art of Walt Disney.  Over the next several years, he researched, studied, and wrote about the life and times of Walt Disney. This interest continued on through college and served as a subject for his Master’s Degree. As a recognized expert on Walt Disney and his works, he was contacted by PBS in 1989 to work on a television documentary exploring the history of animation. Starting as the “Disney historian” on the project, he began to interview many of the old-timers that had worked with Disney. In little time, he found himself serving as Associate Producer on the show, titled Cartoon Mania!  This work for PBS provided him with the opportunity and inspiration to preserve Disney history, which he does by interviewing many of the creative individuals that worked with Walt Disney.  Feeling a need, and a responsibility, for his work to be shared with others, Paul started a historical journal devoted to the creative legacy of Walt Disney titled Persistence of Vision, for which he served as editor and publisher. Paul has also traveled across the United States giving lectures and talks on Walt Disney, as well as to teach an occasional college class on Walt Disney in American Culture.

Born in Sheridan Wyoming in 1962, Paul currently lives near Salt Lake City, Utah.

Saturday’s Toys and Collectibles was founded in 1994 by Southern California author and media historian, Dave Mason. Soon after eBay's launch the following year, Saturday's Toys was among the first online specialists to strategize in embracing this rapidly developing technology. Having delivered over 15,000 coveted treasures since that time, Saturday's Toys is pleased to partner with researchers and collectors throughout the globe.

Today, online offerings of archival keepsakes are presented in celebration of the times that allow for family, friends and neighbors to join in memorable gatherings that nurture the strong connections that bind a community together. These treasures are affectionately represented by "Saturday's Toys." In that light we present our adopted motto (with a nod to the Sherman Brothers): "Oh, let's go fly a kite!"
