VCR cycles is delighted to bring to the market this rare and custom built 2003 Planet X Armadillo 19” gents MTB.

A small production run Frameset from Planet X before the Armadillo was re-named to the Hammerhead due to conflict with Specialized over their Tyres of the same name.

The Armadillo framset is quirky and very unique in its design.

Check out that welding and strengthening gussets near the headtube.

The bike has been custom built with plenty of high end components, it’s a unique “one off” bike and you’ll almost be guaranteed to not see another one out in the trails and definitely not in the same spec.

The frame is very tidy with a few small paint touch ins dotted around but no dents or damage.

The kits is as follows:

Forks are Rock Shox Reba SL U-Turn with adjustable travel from 85mm to 115mm. These are working fine and come with a Rock Shox remote lock out button.

Braking come from the Magura Julie 1st generation levers and Calipers. They’ve just had fresh oil and new pads.

Transmission is made up with SRAM Gripshift 9.0 ESP Carbon look shifters with SRAM X-7 front & rear mechs.

Chainset is Deore LX Hollowtech Triple fitted with mint Shimano XC pedals.

Wheels are high end made with Hope Hoops Hubs laced into DT-Swiss EX 5.10 rims and these are shod with brand new Halo Twin Rail II 2.25 tyres.

Cockpit consists of a On One Inbred 80mm reach stem with On One bars with a width of 68cm.

Saddle is a frame decal matching Specialized Riva mounted on a PBK carbon seat post.

A Hope headrace and Bell bottle cage complete this unique “one off” retro ride.
