Antique Balda Juwella camera of unknown provenance, sold by Karl Thiel in Liegnitz, a town in Silesia, prior to WWII. As found condition, shutter possibly frozen. Above the latch to open the body, I make out the embossed word Balda. Camera has rust but is a survivor and will be a wonderful rare addition to your camera collection.

Liegnitz existed from 1815-1945, covering the NW part of Silesia, which was given to Poland after WWII. No record exists of PHOTO-HANDLUNG KARL THIEL, Liegnitz, Goldberger Str 33. Poland was quick to erase German street names after WWII. However, I found a photo of Goldberger Strasse dating to the time period of this camera.

I offer free local pick up on Chicago's far NW side in addition to regular shipping.

From my smoke and chemical-free good karma home.
