This is an impressive Lower Cambrian trilobite. It is a large Olenellus thompsoni from Pennsylvania. This distinct specimen came from an old collection - it was found about 40 years ago at the classic Fruitville Quarry site. This distinct specimen is very well preserved, displaying the head, body, and LONG telson (tailspine) in fine fashion. The inflated arthropod has excellent detail preserved, and the natural coloration of the fossil is quite striking, very unusual for a Fruitville bug. The classic trilobite is very easily seen on the aesthetic plate of Kinzers shale. This is an very collectible example of a large Olenellus thompsoni trilobite with tailspine, found when Ronald Reagan was president!
