Two 16 Inch Radio Transcription Discs recorded by Transamerican Broadcasting And Television Corporation.   Discs are 16 inches in diameter, black lacquer acetate coated aluminum, 33 1/3 rpm.

There are four separate radio broadcasts on the four sides of the discs.  There are two complete “Life Of Mary Sothern” radio programs and two excerpts from NBC Symphony Orchestra broadcasts

Disc One:

“The Life Of Mary Sothern” radio program #1045.  In this episode, the star witness of the prosecution is to take the stand against Mary’s husband Max.  Program is sponsored by Ipana Toothpaste with commercials.  Approximately 15 minutes.  EX sound

An excerpt from The NBC Symphony Orchestra broadcast of March 23, 1940.  The orchestra is conducted by Arturo Toscanini.  The label “Schubert’s Symphony No. 2 B Flat Minor Movements 2-4.  This excerpt is 15 ½ minutes.  The recording begins while music is in progress and ends with what sounds like the end of a selection, so I do not know if the entire selection is contained in the disc.  EX- sound

Disc Two:

“The Life Of Mary Sothern” radio program #1045.  In this episode, the star witness of the prosecution is to take the stand against Mary’s husband Max.  Program is sponsored by Ipana Toothpaste with commercials.  Approximately 15 minutes.  EX sound

An undated excerpt from The NBC Symphony Orchestra broadcast.  The symphony is conducted by Frank Black.  The excerpt is 12:50 and ends with the announcement “You have been listening to a set of variations on a theme by Tchaikovsky by Anton Arensky and recorded by The National Broadcasting String Symphony Orchestra under Frank Black”.   The recording begins while music is in progress and ends with the announcement, so I do not know if the entire selection is contained on the disc.  VG+ sound

There is only one date on the discs, March 23, 1940, and I suspect the rest of the material is from the same period

Discs are in Excellent- condition, sleeves have some wear and a tear that is visible in the scans.

Please note that most standard turntables will not play 16 inch radio transcription discs.  I Will make a CD copy of both discs for the buyer only
