This is an extremely fine World War II German ‘AFRIKA’ cuff title that remains in near mint condition. It is constructed on light tan doeskin wool and has the word, ‘AFRIKA’ and the two palm trees embroidered in heavy silver colored cotton thread. The palm trees on either side of ‘AFRIKA’ have very fine detail. The thread on lettering on the reverse side is two-toned silver and off-white bobbin thread as is correct for period manufactured pieces. The edges are bordered with single strands of silver Russian braid sewn to the very edges of the wool. This cuff title has not been cut or trimmed and remains in the original full 17½ inches in length. The craftsmanship on this piece is superb and the cuff title itself is a beautiful example.
