On July 14, 1993, the U.S. Postal Service issued these Broadway Musicals 29¢ gummed stamps in Times Square, New York, NY - to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Broadway, and as part of the Legends of American Music Series. Wilson McLean was the artist of these four different stamps.

Four of the most famous musical collaborations in American theater were selected for these stamps: Show Boat; Porgy & Bess; Oklahoma!; and My Fair Lady. The first day of issuance was in conjunction with the Broadway on Broadway celebration, an annual event that features live musical performances from shows currently running on Broadway.
