Offered is a fantastic condition sought rare Singer Model 15-91 with silver filigree Stitch adjuster plate and Singer logo badge in beautiful condition. Born in in Elizabeth, New Jersey, over 90 years ago.
Details: This rare version machine with a serial number of AK92460, dates this machine to May 26, 1932. It is one of the first of this model the 15-91's made. You will notice a few differences that make this a rarer machine. It sport's not only the special nickel silver badge instead of brass but also a filigree silver stitch length surround plate with a length register in a little window
Particulars:The overall appearance of the machine is bright and shiny. This machine has been cleaned, covers removed, gears and motor lubed and moving parts oiled. The foot pedal has been cleaned and wiring checked and replaced where necessary. The shiny jet black finish is in great shape, although not quite mint with a very few tiny dings here and there. The decals are also very nice and appear very near complete. It sews just as it should.
Description: These were top of the line machines, made from the 1930's into the 1960's. This model was one of the most sought after model of its day, and has often been described as one of Singers best. They can easily sew heavier fabrics like Sunbrella, upholstery fabrics, light to mid weight leather, as well as sheers etc. It has dropping feed dogs for fee hand quilting, embroidery, and darning. They were often seen in tailor shops as an alternative to a large industrial machines and some still are today. They also made a line of 15 model Industrial and Artisan sewing machines..
The 15 series machines have a straight thread path from the bobbin case to the needle, and can handle a somewhat heavier weight bobbin thread than it's 201 counter part. The 15 class series were the most widely imitated machine on the market, after the patent ran out, with numerous clones coming from Japan, China, Germany and elsewhere. The 15 class raceways and bobbin's are still widely used today.
15-91 Specifications: The machine has a heavy cast iron body. They were frequently purchased for the home sewing industry, tailor shop's and other artisan sewing industries. It is a Straight stitch machine with full reverse feed and adjustable stitch length. It takes low-shank attachments with easy screw-on feet that are very readily available, using a standard 15x1 sewing machine needle. The potted direct drive motor provides near slip free power and has no belt to replace. It has a longer arm than most domestic machine of this era giving a great area for large or bulky projects approximately 8 ¼” long by 6” high. This machine has consistent stitching at any speed. It has a reliable singer rear mounted light. The stitch lengths range is from 6 to 30 stitches per inch and performs flawless.
This machine uses standard 15x1 needles and 15 class side load bobbins. Be sure to use the right needle for the fabric you are sewing.
It sews beautifully. It sews easily through layers of denim, through layers of clothes leather or through delicate sheers.
Needles: Be sure to use the right gauge needle for the material being sewn. This machine can handle needles 9-18.
Manual: The users manual describes how to oil and lube, use the attachments and adjust the tension for different fabrics.
It uses low shank attachments which are still readily available both used and new.

Shipping
Shipping: occurs usually 1-7 days after payment is received and cleared. For very large shippments and multi box it can be up to 6 days. I ship most items through the US postal service or Fed-ex domestically. For more delicate items I prefer to ship Fed-ex. I charge actual shipping, plus a small Auctiva insurance fee. I only charge for packing materials for large or very delicate items as stated in listings.
International Shipping: I do ship most items internationally. I will ship items with a boxed weight of less than 4 lbs. and 64 combined inches USPS First Class International to countries where allowed. For heavier or larger package I will offer USPS Priority or Global up to their maximum size and weight.
Buyers are responsible for all import fees, tariffs, Taxes ETC. as I cannot see them or include them at my end.
For insurance claims ALL PACKING MATERIALS and the items shipped MUST BE RETAINED AND PHOTOGRAPHED, to file a claim, so in order to receive a reimbursement for shipping damages I also require packing materials and boxes be retained. Occasionally the insurance company will reclaim the entire item.
