2 Rare Antique / Vintage Dining Room Sheraton Style Lattice Back Chairs.
Great Condition (See additional condition below). There are some areas where the black color or patina have some small areas where the black is chipped off. (See Pictures)
These chairs have been in my private collection since the late 1990’s and were sourced from an Antique Store.
Mahogany Color is Black (The Color is either a patina or I’ve found research that in the Early 1900’s some furniture in the Sheraton style and finish was a style called “Japanning” (which means they were painted black)
You can tell this is the original finish on the chairs and they have not been redone.
Some of the research I’ve done on them I actually believe they may be older than 1940’s Sheraton. Example of this is the Springs in the bottom. The chairs have a black mesh.cambric over the bottom; if you shine a flashlight into the mesh you can see these chairs have very well made springs as well as burlap and are tied off with burlap string to the springs. The nail heads holding the mesh in do not look manufactured which would imply they are pre-1920. They look hand made. The fabric on the chairs tells me they are 1880 to 1920’s fabric. I do believe this is the original fabric on these chairs which means that the fabric is of an incredible quality just as the chairs. I have not removed the mesh to look for a name or brand as I don’t want to de-value the chairs. I believe the age is likely 1920-1940’s but could date back to around 1900 or even a little earlier as best I can find out.
Pre-1940’s (Unsure of Actual Age) Age Characteristics: Sheraton Style, Similar ones found on other sites indicate around 1940’s however the chairs have characteristics of Late 1800’s to 1920’s. Nail heads on the bottom holding the mesh fabric/cambric are hand crafted nails not machine made.
All Upholster tacks are there. (See Pictures)
I feel the value in these two chairs are due to the fact (from what I can tell) they are completely original and do not appear to have been refinished or the bottoms / fabric refurbished based upon the handmade nail heads in the undersided mesh/cambric.

Condition:
Great Condition. I would even say Excellent based upon the age.
There are a VERY few areas (and very minute = less than quarter of an inch) on the legs of the chairs and on the very bottom of the lattice. These areas best represent the age of the chairs and how they have patinated over the years.
Wood: Solid Mahogany, the chairs are in great stable shape. Able to use and sit in. No shakes or wobbles at all. VERY STURDY!
You can tell these were of a very high quality maker and made to last.
Fabric - The Fabric is in Great Condition and again; especially considering the age. The fabric may be original to the chair. From my research, this was a type of fabric utilized late 1800’s to 1940’s
