S. Fischer Verlag, Berlin, 1905. First Edition, early printing ("Achzehnte Auflage," meaning 18th thousand). A very good copy showing some modest wear and soiling to the binding, in the original format, printed one year after the true first edition, and SIGNED and dated by Hermann Hesse in Vienna in October 1913. Signed copies of Hesse's major works are quite scarce, particularly so this, his first novel, the book that first brought him to wide acclaim in the German-speaking world. Text in original German.
