This is a vintage folk art bottlecap basket with a twist - the basket is encasing the bottom part of a glass RJ Reynolds cigar jar. Embossed on the bottom of the jar is "Factory No. 64 District of NC". Factory 64 was a complex of 5 of Reynold's buildings in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in the downtown area. The first was built in 1916, and the others during the 20's. I'm not sure how long they were in operation. Also on the bottom is a sideways diamond cartouche with what looks like a "J" and a "G" or a "6". The jar would have had a lid, but it would not have fit well, if at all, under the bottlecap handles.  The jar can't be removed from the cap basket.  The piece is 7 1/2 inches in diameter, and 6 inches high at the rim of the jar, and 8 1/2 inches at the top of the handles.
