This rack mountable Marantz PMD350U stereo auto-reverse cassette deck is a vintage May 1997 piece of electronic equipment that offers a unique combination of cassette recording & playing, and CD playback built into one unit. HOWEVER THE CD PLAYER NO LONGER WORKS! There is also slight damage now to the front panel due to a prior bidder that used a fork to get his CD out. Please see 2nd photograph with circled area for clearer details. The item was manufactured in Japan.

The cassette deck portion is in excellent condition and operates flawlessly. It offers Dolby B and C, and is compatible with standard, chrome, and metal type tapes. The cassette deck also has varispeed feature that when enabled, allows you to raise or lower the playback speed within a ±12% range.

The cassette transport will play in both directions and can be set to play infinitely, both sides or one side before stopping. To the right of the cassette mechanism is the fluorescent-style display section. The display shows input level, and includes a tape counter, (along with a time and track number readout for the CD, which won’t play at this time). Here we also find the switches for the selection of Dolby B and C type noise reduction.

The brand of this unit is Marantz, a well-known company that produces high-quality audio equipment. Please note that the compact disc player is broken and will need to be fixed. Nevertheless, the cassette player/recorder works perfectly fine. Overall, this is an excellent find for anyone who is looking for a vintage auto reverse cassette deck.
