A custom framed set of 4 original long colored magic lantern slides featuring scenes from the Second Italian War of Independence (The Franco Austrian War / The Austro Sardinian War) in 1859. Slides were most likely made in the early 20th century, but possibly earlier, in France.

Slides are lithos (with no dot matrix visible). They each measure about 8” W x 2” H. Captions are not very visible, except for the first slide, which reads “Le 3eme de Zouaves à Palestro 31 Mai 1859.” On another slide, the place name “Magenta” is just legible.

The modern frame measures 15” H x 12” W. The custom mat is white velvet. Slides appear to be floated away from the back of the frame.

In good condition. The frame is in good shape with not much wear. The slides appear to have some wear around the edges from their original use, but the pictures are sharp overall and the colors are bright. See my images for details.
