Subject: Swift & Co. building next to railroad tracks, two other structures named (in ink), “club house” and “show” (tent structure behind Swift & Co. building).

Location: prob. Appalachian Mountains

Date: 1900s-1910s

Size: 8 1/16 x 6 inches (photograph); 12 x 10 inches (mount)

History: I am not sure of the location of this building, however, I obtained it along with other meat packing photographs related to the Appalachian region of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, western Virginia, Eastern Kentucky, etc.

Swift & Co. was a meat-packing and fertilizer co. located in Chicago and founded by Gustavus Franklin Swift, Sr. (1839-1903) in the 1880s.

Condition: Photograph has some soiling, writing, few small light creases, and a little wear. The mount is missing three corners, edge and surface wear, soiling, major creases (noticeable on back), and one tear (about 2 inches).
