Head Ring / Head burden or Suggan Pad The head ring was used by women for carrying loads which helped distribute the weight and ease the pressure on the top of the skull. The load was placed on the pad in a container, a basket or ceramic pot and then placed on the head. It is a very ancient practice and is still to be seen in many African and Asian countries.
