This charming Pietra Dura bird plaque was bought in Florence in 1966. The piece is an example of Italian craftsmanship of the time with very precise cuts in the stone that are hard to see unless you get very close. The bird is perched on a branch and is about to sample the berries. The piece is housed in a gilt wood frame and has the provenance on the back on paper.
Condition of the piece is very good. there are some blemishes to the frame, no other defects.
Measurements are: 10 1/4" by 7 1/4" frame, 8 3/4" by 5 3/4" plaque.
