On May 27, 2010, the U.S. Postal Service issued these Kate Smith self-adhesive 44¢ stamps in New York, NY. The artwork was created by Mark Ranshaw of Kirkbean, Scotland for the cover of a CD titled: "Kate Smith: The Song Bird of the South," where he added the American flag as a backdrop to a TV photo from NBC taken in 1966.


          Kate Smith (1907-1986), a much beloved singer and entertainer, was best known for her rendition of Irving Berlin's "God Bless America", which she introduced on her radio show on November 10, 1938 (the eve of Armistice Day) to mark the 20th anniversary of the end of World War I.
