This is an Ibanez AS100 made in Japan in 1982 at the Fujigen factory.

They were known as the "ES335 killers" when they first appeared as they were as good as, and often better, than the Gibson.

It has a maple centre block and maple/birch top, bottom, and sides, and a mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard. The fretboard is a beautiful rich dark colour and is very smooth and fast to play. The guitar weighs 9.4lbs and comes in its original hard shell case.

There are marks on the back of the body, which don’t penetrate the lacquer, and on the back of the neck, which doesn’t affect playability, at least not for me in the years I’ve owned it.

I have replaced the volume pot (for a Japanese Noble one) otherwise the guitar is original, including the very smooth Super 58 pickups.

There is no twist in the neck, and no issue with the playability. It has had a decent set-up by a local luthier. The frets are original and show little play-wear.

These AS100s from the early eighties are not often seen on eBay, especially red ones, and, apart from the marks described above, this one is in very good condition.
