●In 1951, Levi's 503Z, the first boys' (children's) model to use a zipper, was created. The Z in the product number stands for Zipper. The following year, production of the 504Z began as a youth model (for boys). Following its success, the 501ZXX, the first 501 zipper fly model, was introduced in 1954. This is a reprint of the leather patch model, which is an early version of the 501 Zipper Fly model, which is one of the rarest models among the 501ZXX produced from 1954 to 1966. The leather patch was produced for only one year before being changed to a paper patch in 1955.
