Popular throughout Western Europe and The United States during the 1890s and early 1900s, the Art Nouveau, or ‘New Art’ international style of applied and decorative arts was often inspired by natural forms such as the sinuous curves of plants and flowers. Additional characteristics were a sense of dynamism and movement, often given by asymmetry or whiplash lines. Art Nouveau is known by different names in different languages, namely: Jugendstil in German, Stile Liberty in Italian, Modernisme in Catalan as well as Modern Style in English.

This wonderful collection of original books from a vastly influential period in art history provides literally 100’s of different Art Nouveau patterns, designs, artwork, ornament, decorative illustrations, posters, architecture and jewellery. Some of the books contained within this digital archive are extremely hard-to-find and provide not only a valuable library of reference material, but also 1,000’s of pages of great content and fabulous photos / illustrations for the reader.
