 Item: WWII Wardens Battledress Blouse with Home Guards Wardens Helmet.

Nice early British Wartime Set comprising of an Original 1942 dated Civil Defence Air Raid Precautions Warden Battledress blouse with Helmet dated 1939 Blitz/Battle of Britian Era.  The battledress comes complete with its original insignia and in a size of 13.  The jacket is the standard A.R.P. 57 pattern which was introduced in 1941.  Modelled on the British Army battledress, the jacket is made from a black coloured serge wool and features a fly front and twin breast pockets.  All the buttons are the stamped blue metal typed used for Civil Defence battledresses during this period and the waist belt buckle is a standard mid war example. The jacket is fitted with its original insignia which consists of embroidered WARDEN title which are the correct Wartime Old Gold Pattern.  As well as this there is a Civil Defence Instructors badge to the left sleeve and medal ribbons are fitted above the left breast pocket.  These include the 1914-15 Star, War Medal and the Victoria medal which denotes that the original owner served during the Great War.  Inside the jacket there are two interior pockets and the original label is present to the right-hand side.  It bears the title Blouses A.R.P. 57 and the size is marked as 13 which is designed to fit up to 5 foot 10 inches tall and 33 inch – 35 inch chest and a 30 inch – 32 inch waist.  The maker’s name is Prices Tailors Limited Proprietors of the Fifty Shilling Tailor, is present as is the War Department Broad Arrow Marking.  As well as this there is a War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter O which denotes 1942 as the year of issue.  The jacket is in good condition as seen in the photos.  It shows signs of wear and age but overall, it displays very well.  There are some small holes towards the top of the right sleeve and the bottom of the left sleeve. Missing a couple of buttons can be easily replaced.The Warden Blitz/Battle of Britain WWII Helmet is a nice early example of a Home Guard Wardens Helmet, painted black with the painted W to the face side, has some abrasions.  The liner is in very good condition which is clearly marked size 7 BMB 1939, the rim of the helmet is also stamped 1939, and comes with its original elasticated webbing chinstrap.  Hard to find Battledress and Helmet complete.
