Dylan Thomas Dylan was born in Swansea and educated at the local Grammar School. He left Wales in 1934 for "smoky London paved with poems". Following his marriage to Caitlin in 1937, they adopted a nomadic lifestyle moving around the country, staying with friends, and also at Brown's Hotel, Laugharne. In 1939 they bought the 'Boat House', overlooking the wide Taf Estuary. Here Dylan used the small cliffside cycle shed as his "study". He soon became a regular in the Bar of Brown's Hotel and tales of the Thomas's Bohemian lifetsyle suitably embellished have now passed into local folklore. Dylan was constantly beset by financial problems and to pay off his more pressing creditors he undertook several lecturing tours to the United States. In 1953 he collapsed in New York his health destroyed by years of heavy drinking. A few days later he died on 9th November, aged 39. He was buried in the annexe to Laugharne Churchyard on 24th November, his grave marked by a simple wooden cross. - LA 2V,Art,Font,Paint,Poster,Painting,Art paint,Vintage clothing,Visual arts,Illustration,Artist,Self-portrait,Drawing,History,Retro style,Portrait
