Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled Shaftless Rotary Generator motor--Designed for Phase Converters

Not an open style rotory motor,  NOT a rolled steel open rotary motor that most manufactures use.  Open style motors are much cheaper for a manufacturer to purchase and use as a rotary converter.  We prefer not to use them for that reason,  its a cheap rotary motor.  And, insects love to make a home inside of them.   The only cooling feature those type motors have are the fins on the rotor itself,  and all that does is suck dust and dirt into the windings of the motor. Most of our Industrial customers will not allow an open motor on their locations because of the fire hazard of the rotary motor windings catching on fire.   Our rotary motors are Heavy Duty cast iron frames--Totally Enclosed with External Fan Cooling,  designed for industrial duty and locations.  with the Fan Cooling & Cast Iron Construction they are,  Designed for Industrial Duty and Locations.

. An Important Consideration for All Phase Converters is this::::

The Rotary Motor is the Heart of the Phase Converter.

 A Heavy Duty Cast Iron Frame Rotary Motor will operate much cooler, more efficient and generate more power then any "Open Style" motor.  Its also common sense the if the motor has to suck air inside of it to cool,  then dust and insects are going in also.   Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled Rotary Motors are superior in Phase Converters then the Open motors in Power Output.   Open motors are Much Cheaper to purchase and to manufacture a phase converter with,  but they are not nearly as reliable as a TEFC Model.   Lets take a 12 volt car battery for example.    You can find one that is light weight or one that you can't hardly pick up.   The light weight battery may start your lawnmower but it sure isn't going to start your pickup truck.  Weight means Power,  think of a magnet for example.   For maximum power output in relation to horsepower in phase converters,  always use a HEAVY DUTY TEFC Rotary Motor     Think of it in terms of magnets,.   A small magnet will have a small magnetic pull to it,  a large heavy magnet will have lots more power.   A rotary motor is nothing more then a revolving magnet that generates the third phase of the output..    Southern Phase Converters have the Power.  Other converters with the open style motors do not, Its as simple as that.    They are light weight and cost less to ship,  and are much cheaper to purchase but they do not have the power.   We have tried the open style motors in the oil industry,  our largest customers,  but they would not start the pumps.  A heavy duty cast iron rotary converter motor of the same HP would start it. 

 We insure that our Phase Converters have enough output capacitors to handle the current draw on the induced phase that the converter generates.   Balanced voltage output does not mean the converter will handle the current draw of your equipment, it only means that enough capacitors were installed to balance the voltage,  but the induced output leg will not have enough capacitance to handle the load.  You can balance a converter using only a couple of capacitors,  but doing this is like trying to start a large diesel truck with a lawnmower battery.  The voltage may be there,  but there is not enough current to do the job from the battery.

Southern Converters  has designed each converter to be able to handle the amperage draw on the induced phase,  not with only just balancing the voltage output but for maximum amperage output also.  For example,  a 20 Hp   Southern rotary phase converter has 16 - 18 capacitors installed for the maximum output and for proper operation.

SOUTHERN Phase Converters are sized to operate up to three times the rated hp of the converter.  For example a 15 Hp Rotary Phase Converter can operate up to a total of 45 hp depending on the load conditions of the equipment.   Always Call first for assurance of proper sizing.
