A classic Australian Agate Half. Collected from Agate Creek in outback Queensland.  This specimen has good castellation and  a rich yellow green colour with an attractive chatoyance

Agate is a banded, concentric shell-like chalcedony sometimes containing quartz crystal centres. The bands can be multicoloured or the same colour. 

Originally reported from the Achates River, Acate, Ragusa Province, Sicily, Italy.

Specimen was photographed using close up techniques and magnification.
