I am not a professional, I ride motorbikes for travel so I only need portable camera options these days.

The lens is from the SIGMA's top range of lenses, Art series, and has a unique design that allows if to have the same max aperture of F1.8 despite the changes in focal range - given the 1.5x crop factor of Foveon sensors, it is roughly equivalent to both DP1 and DP2 series cameras (wide and standard). All in one lens - and NOT the F2.8 that DP offers but much more light goes into F1.8 - the Foveons need good light.

It can be firmware-managed and tuned using SIGMA Optimisation Pro software (free)  and SIGMA UD-01 dock for Windows/MacOS X.
