THE PRISONER

# 2 and #6 Large 2.25” Buttons with Penny-Farthing Bicycle

A set of two 2.25” pinback buttons with crisp B&W artwork of the insignia of The Village - an old-fashioned bicycle. One button has the red number 2 (for the leader of The Village),and the second has number 6 (for the Patrick McGoohan eponymous 'prisoner'.) The artwork has been re-formatted from our popular 1.25” buttons to more closely resemble the buttons from the show.

The Prisoner is a 17-episode British television series. Starring and co-created by Patrick McGoohan, it combined spy fiction with elements of science fiction, allegory, and psychological drama. The series follows a British former secret agent who is abducted and held prisoner in an isolated coastal village resort where his captors try to find out why he abruptly resigned from his job. In The Village, everyone has a number instead of a name, and wears a button with their number.

Although sold as a thriller in the mould of the previous series starring McGoohan, Danger Man (1960) [retitled as "Secret Agent" in the US], the show's combination of 1960s countercultural themes and surreal setting had a far-reaching effect on science fiction/fantasy programming, and on popular culture in general.

Wear your Number 2 button and try to determine why Number 6 is up to! Wear your Number 6 button and try to defy the power of The Village! Remember, "I am not a number, I am a free man!" {buttons may be worn by either sex}
