VCR cycles is delighted to bring to the market this beautiful 1978 Viking European model 23.5” frame gents Reynolds 531 steel touring bike.

A one owner from new machine that’s been very well cared for.

The European model was introduced in 1978 and ran to 1980, the frame is made with Reynolds 531 tubes and Campagnolo dropouts.

As you can see from the 1980 Viking catalogue photo, this example has remained in original spec condition.

The wheels are are made from Campagnolo small flange hubs laced with stainless spokes into Mavic red label clincher rims. These are shod with NOS High pressure 700x25c tyres.

Transmission is Campagnolo Gran Sport comprising down tube levers and front & rear mechs with an SR chainset.

The cockpit is made up from the original 80mm reach SR stem and the Viking engraved bars.

The saddle is the original suede top which has smoothed with use so more like a leather now.

Brakes are Weinamm 500 calipers with drilled levers fitted with New Dia-Compe hoods which fit well.

Bars have been wrapped in 1980’s NOS silver bar tape.

Full length Sks mudguards and a correct period steel frame water bottle cage complete this beautiful and rarely seen Viking model bicycle.

The bike has had a full bearing service ,

Wheels have been trued and tensioned, and it’s been fitted with new tyres and new bar tape.

Centre of BB to top of seat tube is 23.5”.

Centre of seat tube to centre of headtube is 22.5”
