DESCRIPTION:  This is a SCARCE graphic artist style and samples reference for the production of retail and service industry show cards! Hardbound. Contains at least 200 unpaginated pages. A great addition to your graphic arts reference collection!

Drake & Co., Chicago, 1918 Hardcover, no jacket, B/w Illustrated. Edition: 1918 Printing "...Dedicated to the Show Card Writing Fraternity and those desirous of entering the profession." The book measures approx. 8 3/4" x 11 1/4". There is a small chunk of missing cover fabric along spine, but binding is still strong. Pages are in overall good condition with some having minor creasing and markings not original to the book. Contains 47 numbered pages, 43 figures, 121 numbered plates of card designs, and 5 unnumbered plates at the end (with one unnumbered figure and four plates with pen and ink drawings imagery), 5 pp Index, and 4 pages of advertisements. Out of 43 Numbered and titled Figures - No.1 and No.2 (Brush practice) sit on page 2, Fig.3 (Marking pen) on page 6, Fig. 4 and 5 (shading) on page 24. Numbered Figures 6 through 43 that illustrate lettering and then 121 plates of hand drawn show cards are unpaginated after page 47. Slightly yellowed endpapers. Green cloth cover with embossed olive design. Red shape outlines Sho'Cards title in art nouveau font, and black silhouette "on the top" is show card writer "cut out" outlining authors’ names. Corners bumped with some fraying, worn along the edges, small scratches.

CONDITION DETAILS:  FAIR COVERS / VERY GOOD CONTENTS. Front and back hinges partly broken. Moderate cover wear. Notations written pencil on front end paper. Small spot of missing spine fabric [see photo]. No inside rips, tears, foxing or missing pages.
