2008 Royal Mint year set - Emblems

in original sealed Royal Mint Pack

2008 was a pivotal year for British coins. The new designs for the UK’s currency unveiled by the Royal Mint represented the biggest change to our coinage since decimalisation.

To mark the occasion and to commemorate the reverse designs that have served Britain well for almost 40 years, the Royal Mint issued this set of 7 coins struck to a superb  Brilliant Uncirculated finish.

These coins represent a key moment in British numismatic history, and are therefore highly sought-after.

The collection features seven coins released in 2008, and includes some particularly significant coins :

The New Shield of Royal Arms £1 Coin: The first £1 coin was issued in 1983 and featured the Royal Coat of Arms designed by Eric Sewell, chief engraver at the Royal Mint. The same design has been used 25 years later on the last £1 coin in this historic set.

The Britannia 50p Coin: The image of Britannia first appeared on British coinage in 1672 during the reign of Charles II and since then has always been present on at least one denomination. The 2008 campaign ‘Save Britannia’ ensured the design would remain part of our coinage.

The coins are all struck to the Royal Mint’s superb BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED  quality, ensuring the coins in this collection are superior to the coins to be found in general circulation.

The set is presented in the original Royal Mint sealed packaging.

Sold as seen, the coin set in the photos is the one you will receive.
