From a collection of ephemera from early 20th century in the fields of automobilia, yachting, rail passage, travel abroad, exhibitions and more.

Amazing 13 piece collection of travel tickets, border crossing receipts, club references, etc related to the Automobile Club subscription obtained by an American ex-Diplomat living in Italy at the time. Each piece is information-packed with member info, dates, tons of different ink stamps and signatures specific to its purpose during a time when touring post-war Europe by automobile was quite popular.

This "Touring Club" patron was a fan of MG cars, having purchased a new 1952 MG TD and a new 1954 MG TF within years of each other. The story begins in Italy where a crash took place involving is '52 TD and where the totalled wreck of his 1952 MG TD remained stored until the insurance settlement paid out. Anxious to keep touring Europe as planned, the buyer was relentless in attempting to arrange for the transfer of settlement funds directly between the insurance carrier and the new dealership selling him the 1954 MG TF, which was already on hold.

We're happy to report that travel around Europe continued as planned, with subscriptions to Automobile Touring Clubs in Germany, France and Italy secured.

Separate lots of 1950s ephemera from these touring clubs, for his 1952 MG TD and later his 1954 MG TF purchase, are being offered separately so do checkout my other auctions.
