A beautiful two-volume, very early edition of Fenelon’s Dialogues des Mort Anciens et Modernes, Avec Quelques Fables, Composez pour l’Education d’un Prince (Ancient and Modern Dialogues of the Dead, With Various Fables, Composed for the Education of a Prince). Written in French. 12mo. Brown leather with gilt spines. Published by Chez Jacques Estienne in Paris in 1718. Errata is bound at the end of each volume.

Published in the year of the Treaty of Paris.

In good condition. Some light wear on the leather covers. Leather is sturdy. Some light and antique ink stains are on the covers of both volumes. The outer edge of the front cover of Volume 1 has a one-inch dent. There is a note to Mdlle Dupeyroun on the endpapers of the first volume. A strip of old vellum sheet with writing is showing opposite the title page in the second volume (some of the endpapers were apparently torn away). The bindings are tight. Pages are clean. See images for details.
