Our client's truly magnificent and large antique (19th century) centerpiece vase is finely cast in gilt bronze with champleve enamel designs, with square onyx base and onyx sphere, and distinguished by its monumental height of 23 1/8 in (59 cm).  37.1 lbs, 16.8 kg. 23 1/8 by 11 by 7 inches.  Apparently unsigned, and possibly by Eugene Cornu and/or the Campagne des Marbes Onyx d'Algerie.

A pair of this exact model were sold at Christie's for $50,000 on October 21, 2008 in lot 318 in their sale of
19th century furniture, sculpture, works of art and ceramics, as seen in our attached image.

Item HA-4061

Item sold as-is. All sales final.

Very good overall condition.  The natural inclusions of light and dark stone in the sphere show cracks and small losses, typical of the stone and not considered damages.  There is a small chip loss at two corners of the onyx base.  Rubbing wear to the gilding, consistent with age and good care.
