[This collection of photographs also aims to be a source of inspiration.
Its primary goal is to keep tribal traditions alive and
so that we can learn from them.
It is also intended to encourage people to take a closer look at their unique culture.

This project is not about me alone.
It is a catalyst for something much larger.

[And Jimmy Nelson is not a scientist,
pretends to have answers to the complex issues surrounding the extinction of cultures and tribes.
He doesn't pretend to have them.
He travels to the poles of the world out of inner necessity.
He is a dreamer, an idealist, an aesthete.
He celebrates the beauty and uniqueness of social groups that are in decline in remote parts of the world,
He tries to open our eyes to a reality that we are reluctant to acknowledge.
We must now document the last people and customs that live as they did in the past,
If we do not document the last people and their customs as they were in the past, they will disappear without a trace.
It is too late to lament when the last tribesmen are wearing suits and living in townhouses.
For there was no one to point out how distinct and unique they were,
They don't even think their culture is a heritage worth protecting.
But when confronted by one photographer who insisted they had unique value,
Fueled by this, their attitudes change phenomenally.
Jimmy's photographs may be composed, though,
still capture hidden truths, and the photographer is there to
We urbanites have come to this very place.
This is where we urbanites come from.
The tribal people are part of our history, our origins,
They are us.
They are us.
They are us, because they are the last remaining archetypal human beings living in tribal societies,
We must provide them with as many opportunities as possible to coexist with modern society.
If we do not do so, they will indeed disappear forever,
irreplaceable parts of us will disappear as well].
