Ciriaco Piras was born in Dorgali, in the province of Nuoro, in 1891.
Introduced to sheep farming by his family, the young Piras has natural skills as a carver which he applies to cork and wood.
Discovered by Francesco Ciusa , owner of the Cagliari ceramic factory " Spira ", in 1919 Ciriaco Piras moved to Cagliari and worked for two years as an apprentice under Ciusa.
In 1922 Piras returned to Dorgali and opened a small artistic ceramic laboratory where he created works inspired by Sardinian culture and tradition.
Among the collaborators of the laboratory, towards the end of the twenties, we find the young Salvatore Fancello , Simone Lai , Antonio Lovicu and Giovanni Cucca
Some ceramics made by Ciriaco Piras are present at the V Craft and Small Business Exhibition organized by ENAPI in June 1936 in Cagliari.
He died in Dorgali in 1955.
