The banded top with a moulded edge above three long drawers geometrically banded with fruitwood on short square tapering feet, the sides similarly banded and with wrought-iron loop handles, (some veneers lacking). This robust commode is almost certainly South German. Several veneers have been used to create the decorative effect including plum wood, walnut, burr walnut and with boxwood or holly stringing.
